Internal IQA training strengthens quality across Learn Devon

Learn Devon is celebrating the success of its recent Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) training programme, with all ten staff members now passed and qualified.

Their achievement marks another step in strengthening quality across the organisation.

A total of ten staff took part in a targeted skills bootcamp designed to support completion of the Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. The programme supported participants’ understanding of internal and external quality assurance requirements, ensuring compliance with awarding body standards.

The training has already had a positive impact. Staff are now better equipped to carry out lesson observations, provide constructive quality feedback and contribute to ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) across teaching teams.

When sharing feedback about the course’s teaching and learning, one participant praised Tim, the tutor, who presented the course ‘clearly with lots of resources to access both during the session and afterwards, helping to identify the proformas and requirements needed to complete the qualification.’

Feedback from participants highlights the value of the course. One learner commented: ‘My tutor was fantastically patient, clear, concise and a brilliant learning facilitator. The course has supported me in being a better Assessor as well as my IQA skills.’

Another staff member noted the practical benefits, describing the training as ‘fun, practical and engaging,’ and emphasising how it built real, applicable skills.

The course was also valued for its ‘clear organisation – this was communicated with everyone at the beginning and was very helpful for time management and completing the course within the set timeframe.’

This achievement reflects the commitment and dedication of staff to raising standards and supporting excellence across Learn Devon’s provision.
