Connect to Work

A new employment scheme, Connect to Work, is launching across Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay to help nearly 6,000 people into work over the next five years.

The Connect to Work programme, funded with £22.7 million from the UK Government’s Get Britain Working Programme, is being delivered by the three local authorities to ensure support meets local needs. Its aim is to improve access to employment, health, and skills services while reducing economic inactivity in the region.

Learn Devon is delighted to be supporting this new initiative and our staff will be working directly with learners and employers to support Devon-wider delivery.

This initiative focuses on supporting disabled people, those with health conditions, and individuals facing complex barriers to secure paid, sustainable employment. Participation is voluntary, and each person will receive tailored help from a dedicated specialist employment adviser who will:

  • Understand their career goals and aspirations
  • Provide personalised support based on health and employment needs
  • Address barriers and assist with employer engagement, removing the need for complex application processes
  • Offer ongoing support to both participants and employers after job placement to ensure long-term success

Alongside supporting individuals get ready for work, Learn Devon staff will also be working directly with employers preparing to take on new employees.
