Using the NHS app on your mobile device

Overview

The NHS App is a service from the NHS that allows you to access and manage your healthcare from your mobile device. As well as seeing some of your medical information such as doctors’ notes from appointments you can use it to book some medical appointments (not GP appointments) and order repeat prescriptions. It is a secure, fast, and effective way to keep on top of your health.

You will learn how to download the NHS App and sign up to use it through the sign-up process. You will then be shown how to use it to access your health information, arrange appointments and order medication. (Please be aware that not all GP surgeries offer all NHS App services).

This is an informal classroom-based session with one of our experienced tutors. You will learn in a small group with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practice on your device.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You will need to bring your smartphone or tablet with you to use during the session.

Assessment criteria

There is no assessment, your progress during the session will be monitored by your tutor.

What do I need?

You will need a working smartphone, tablet, or other similar mobile device capable of accessing the Internet. You will also need to bring a photo driving licence or passport if you need to sign up to use the App. Bus passes are not considered a suitable ID to access the App.
