Technical diploma for the early years practitioner (Level 2)
Overview
This course is for anyone who wants to start a career in the early years sector, working with children from birth to 5, and gaining knowledge of working with children up to age 7. It's suitable for school leavers, adults changing careers, or volunteers. This qualification is a full and relevant license to practice at Level 2, allowing you to count towards the staff-to-child ratio in an early years setting.
You'll learn the essential skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in early years. This includes safeguarding and promoting child welfare, understanding child development, promoting positive behaviour, supporting children with special educational needs, and how to plan and deliver activities and purposeful play.
Learning is a blend of online classroom study, independent work, and practical work placement. You must complete a mandatory minimum of 250 hours in an approved early years setting to gain practical experience and demonstrate competence.
