Level 1 Introduction to Health & Social Care

Overview

This course is for learners who are interested in starting a career in health and social care and want to explore what working in this sector involves. It is ideal for those with little or no experience who would like to build confidence, develop basic caring skills, and understand the expectations of working with people

You will learn about the principles of care, communication skills, keeping people safe, and the importance of professional behaviour in health and social care settings. You will explore the roles of care workers, how to support individuals’ needs, and how to work safely and respectfully with others.

Learning will take place in an online classroom, you will take part in group discussions, complete assignments and look at case studies.

Entry requirements

Learners should be age 19+ and eligible to study in the UK. You will be asked to provide I.D and proof of income/benefits once you enrol. 

Assessment criteria

You will work with your tutor to produce a portfolio of evidence which will meet the required standards of the Awarding Body. 

What do I need?

You will need a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, plus a good internet connection to take part in the class and complete work. A smartphone will not be suitable. 

What can I do next?

You can progress to Level 1 or Level 2 Health & Social Care qualifications, supported internships, traineeships, apprenticeships, or entrylevel roles in care settings such as adult social care, childcare, or community support.
