Course Code: SDF031
Award in volunteering (Level 1)
Overview
Whether you are thinking about working as a volunteer, or already in a volunteering role, this course will give you an insight into the role and increase your awareness of the personal standards required whilst volunteering. As you will be working towards a Level 1 qualification there will be a short initial skills check (either in person or via Teams) before enrolling to make sure this course is right for you.
You will look at the commitment required and benefits of volunteering as well as how volunteering organisations use volunteers. You will then go on to examine the skills required to become a volunteer such as dress code, behaviour and customer care, and understand how to improve your existing skills and develop new ones.
The course is usually classroom-based, and you will be part of a group with other learners and a tutor. You will take part in discussions as well as working on your own and in a group. There will be an assignment each week (quizzes, finding things out, etc.) which you must complete in your own before the next session.
