Introduction to spreadsheets (Google)

Overview

Anybody who would like some additional support or guidance with improving their spreadsheet skills. Spreadsheets are used everywhere now to not only help with numbers and calculations but also data storage and processing.

You will learn how to: Use cell formatting Use number formatting Use arithmetic operators Create basic formulas Create basic Excel functions Use absolute & relative cell references

Each session will be 2.5 hours long. You will be taught by a supportive and friendly tutor who will provide lots of practical help and guidance. Our classes are small and welcoming, you will work with others and on your own, using a variety of resources provided by the tutor. This course is free and available online.

Entry requirements

This course is free for anyone who is 19 and over and is a resident in Devon. Please contact your local Learn Devon Centre who can give you further information and advice.

Assessment criteria

There will be a simple ILP (Individual Learning Plan) which the tutor will discuss with you individually to make sure the class is meeting your needs. You will also take part in discussions in the group about the session’s activities.

What do I need?

You will need a suitable device to be able to access the online classroom and participate in the spreadsheet activities, ideally a laptop. Tablets may be used but will restrict your participation. Mobile phones are not suitable for use on this course.

A pen and notebook would be useful to make notes. All other resources will be supplied.
