Functional skills - English Entry level 3

Overview

This course is for adults who want to improve their English skills for everyday life, work or further study. If you already have basic reading and writing skills and want to build your confidence in using English further, this may be the right course for you.

You will learn how to: -read and understand simple texts -write clearly for different purposes -communicate effectively in speaking and listening activities. The course focuses on practical English skills for real-life situations.

Learning will take place through group discussions and practical reading and writing exercises. You will also have opportunities to use digital tools and receive individual feedback from your tutor.

Entry requirements

You should have basic English skills at Entry Level 2. An initial assessment will help us place you at the right level. Please contact us to arrange an appointment with one of our friendly Learning Advisers. This course is free.

Assessment criteria

You will complete language tasks to practise during the course. Your tutor will give you feedback, and you will use an Individual Learning Plan to record your progress. During the course, you will take a Pearson exam in reading, writing, and speaking & listening.

What do I need?

Regular attendance and a willingness to participate in activities and discussions!

Make sure you also have a notebook and a pen to practise writing by hand. Access to a paper English dictionary will also be useful. You may need to complete homework tasks to reinforce your learning.

To attend online, you will need a laptop with a webcam and stable internet connection to participate in Google Classroom activities. A smartphone is not suitable.

After completing this course, you can progress to Level 1 Functional Skills English or other courses to improve your skills further.
