Functional digital skills (Entry 3 or Level 1)

Overview

Digital skills are an essential part of work. This course aims to introduce you to the key skills that you will need in both work and everyday life.

This is a recognised qualification from the awarding body Gateway. You will build your confidence across these key digital skills areas: using devices and handling information; creating and editing documents; communicating; online transactions and being safe and responsible online. You will learn how to send emails and manage your messages, create and edit simple spreadsheets and documents, make video calls and use a web browser effectively and shop online

This course may be delivered face to face or online. You will learn through demonstrations, practical exercises, online learning and group discussions. You will use our online learning platform to complete and hand in work and be guided by a course handbook. Your tutor will support you in each session and provide constructive feedback on your work.

Entry requirements

Before the course begins you will be invited to complete a short assessment to make sure that the course is suitable for you. This will determine what level you will learn at.

Assessment criteria

You will be expected to complete an assessment at the end of the course. This will check what you have learned and whether you are ready to progress on to the next qualification. Passing the assessment will lead to you being awarded a Gateway Digital Functional Skills Qualification at either Entry Level 3 or Level 1.

What do I need?

All equipment will be provided. It is not possible to use your own device as this will not be compatible with our systems. You may wish to bring a notebook and pencil to take notes
