Essential digital skills (Entry level 3)

Overview

Would you like to build your confidence in your digital skills for everyday life? Would you like to be able to use online services and find and save information online effectively? This is the course for you if you would like to become confident with digital skills basics.

This recognised qualification will build your skills across the 5 main digital skills areas: Using devices and handling information, creating and editing, communicating, transacting (buying or exchanging information online and being safe and responsible online.

This course is a face-to-face course and is free of charge. Your tutor will support you in each session

Entry requirements

There is a short initial assessment to make sure that this is the right course for you.

Assessment criteria

There are some tasks that your tutor will observe (for example, making a video call on Zoom) before you complete a three-part online assessment at your local Learn Devon centre. You will have up to 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the timed assessment (with a 15-minute supervised break if required). You may be able to have extra time for the assessment if you need it.

What do I need?

All equipment will be provided. It is not possible to bring in your own device as this may not be compatible with our systems.

What can I do next?

You can progress on to the Level 1 Essential Digital Skills Qualification, which is focused more on digital skills for work, with some digital skills for life content.

Funding information

This course is being funded by the Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority (DTCCA). To be able to provide you with this opportunity we need to ensure that you are eligible for funding and have to collect personal data for government monitoring of funding. You must live in Devon and have been normally resident in the UK for the past 3 years and have a legal right to receive this funding. In addition to this you must NOT have previously achieved a Level 2 qualification in this subject and take part in an initial assessment to discover your current level, the levels available are at either Entry Level 3 or Level 1. If you are not eligible for any reason, we will have to charge you fees to be able to provide this learning opportunity.
