ESOL: Language for Work

Overview

This course is for adults who: Speak English as a second language Are working, looking for work, or want to work in the future Want to understand workplace English better Are roughly Entry 2 to Entry 3 level (you will not need a test to be enrolled)

The aim of this course is to help you: Understand English used at work Feel more confident in work conversations Learn useful words and phrases for jobs In this course, you will learn: Common workplace vocabulary (e.g. tasks, tools, instructions)How to understand simple workplace conversationsHow to ask and answer questions at work How to talk to colleagues and managers How to understand instructions and messages Polite language for work (e.g. requests,

You will learn by: Joining live online lessons Practising speaking with othersListening to real-life examples Doing simple activities and tasks Working with your tutor and classmates

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements but you should be at around Entry 2 – Entry 3 level ESOL.

Assessment criteria

There is no exam. Your tutor will support you and check your progress through class activities. You will have many opportunities to practise English and build confidence.

What do I need?

You will need: A computer or tablet (a smartphone is too small to access the learning properly)Internet access A notebook or paper A pen or pencil
