Certificate in principles of team leading (Level 2)
Overview
This course if for anyone 19+ who is involved as a volunteer or who has a lay leadership role (licenced or not-yet licenced) in the Exeter Diocese, and who is wanting to develop their leadership skills and gain a Level 2 qualification in Team Leading. Possible contexts include: Reader Licenced Lay Minister Pioneer PCC member Volunteer project co-ordinator Volunteer team leader *Ask if you are not sure if this course is for you.
You will explore and reflect on your role as a lay leader in your specific church-based context. Themes covered include: Levels of authority and responsibility of the team leader in the organisation Leadership styles Action-centred leadership Motivation and shared purpose Communication Working relationships within the team, the organisation and beyond the organisation Personal development as a Team Leader Inclusive and safe working within a team
In order to complete the qualification you will need to evidence around 2-3 hours per week of volunteering/lay leadership activity throughout the course in addition to the Guided Learning Hours (made up of class attendance and 10 x short out-of-class assignments). You will also be asked to complete a reflective journal and a couple of one-to-one catch-ups (either teams or Zoom) with the tutor.
