Award in mental health and wellbeing (Level 1)

Overview

his course is for individuals 19+ who are considering a career in health and care or who are interested in working or volunteering in the local community with people who may experience issues with their mental health and well-being. It is to gain a qualification - Level 1 Award in Mental Health and Well-being

his course will help you: To understand what we mean by mental health and well-being To understand different mental health conditions and treatment To know how to find support for mental health conditions To know how to look after your own mental health and well-being

The course takes place on Thursday afternoons in Barnstaple Library. You will take part in discussions as well as working on your own and in a group. There will be an assignment each week (quizzes, finding things out, etc.) which you must complete in your own before the next session.

Entry requirements

This course is at Level 1 so you will have demonstrated through the initial skills check that you can work at this level.

Assessment criteria

There will be a simple ILP (Individual Learning Plan) which the tutor will discuss with you individually, to make sure the class is meeting your needs. You will also take part in discussions in the group about the session’s activities. Throughout the course you will complete a portfolio which will be submitted to the awarding body. Your tutor will support you in making sure everything you need is included in the portfolio.

What do I need?

You will find a pen/pencil or notebook useful. You will also need access to a laptop or tablet connected to the internet. If the course is online, you will need a laptop or tablet and a reliable internet connection. A mobile phone is not suitable for online learning.
