Overview
This course is for individuals 19+ who are thinking about teaching in the adult education sector, or who already train/instruct others and wish to gain a qualification. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification. You do not have to have a current teaching role, but taking part in the microteaching session is a mandatory part of the course.
This course will help you: Understand roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training. Understand and use inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training. Understand the principles and practices of assessment.
The classes take place online on Monday evenings. However, there is a mandatory face-to-face practical session which usually takes place on a Saturday, date/location TBC. You will also need to complete, in your own time, 6 assignments and a guided reflective journal.
Entry requirements
This course is at Level 3 and you will be asked to complete a short initial skills check before enrolling to make sure this course is right for you. You must be eligible to study in the UK and show valid I.D. This course is offered under Skills Bootcamp and you must meet the eligibility criteria Eligibility - Train 4 Tomorrow
Assessment criteria
This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence which you will build throughout the course, and which will be submitted to the awarding body. Your tutor will support you in making sure everything you need is included in the portfolio. There will be a simple ILP (Individual Learning Plan) which the tutor will discuss with you individually, to make sure the class is meeting your needs. There will be a in person workshop on Saturday 13th Feb, 10-4:30 in Exeter which you must attend.
What do I need?
You will need your own electronic device and reliable access to the internet/wi-fi signal. A phone will not be sufficient. You will need to be committed to attending and completing assignments on time.
As part of the Skills Bootcamp funding, you will be asked to show proof of income/employment status.

Funding information
This course is being funded by the Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority (DTCCA). To be able to provide you with this opportunity we need to ensure that you are eligible for funding and have to collect personal data for government monitoring of funding. You must live in Devon and have been normally resident in the UK for the past 3 years and have a legal right to receive this funding. You do not already hold this qualification at this level. We normally provide these courses free of charge and claim all your funding from the DTCCA if:
- You are attempting to achieve your first full level 2 (Excluding English or maths)
- You are unemployed, seeking work, claiming benefits and have annual earnings of less than £26,800
- You are employed or self-employed, but have annual earnings of less than £26,800
