Learn Devon learners celebrate their GCSE results

For many, the results represented much more than a qualification but a step in a positive direction.

How our learners responded

Gemma, who achieved a Grade 4 in GCSE Maths, admitted she was convinced she had failed after checking the exam grade boundaries online.

‘I really didn’t think that I would pass, but I was really pleased to see that I did in fact get the grade. I’m genuinely in disbelief,’ she said.

Gemma praised her tutor, Owen, for helping learners understand maths in different ways and said gaining both English and Maths qualifications had ‘opened more doors for me’.

For Olena, who achieved a Grade 5 in GCSE English, success came after taking the qualification four times. Originally from Ukraine, she described her result as ‘a great sense of achievement’ and thanked staff for the support they provided throughout her journey.

‘At Learn Devon, the atmosphere is so friendly, everyone is making sure you’re alright,’ she said.

Lauren, who achieved a Grade 5 in GCSE English, was left almost lost for words by her result.

‘Speechless, I’m never speechless but I am right now,’ she said, adding that she ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ her online classes and praised tutor Sarah for making learning such a positive experience.

Meanwhile, Johnny, who achieved a Grade 5 in GCSE Maths, enrolled to future-proof his career and discovered a new appreciation for the subject.

‘I didn’t like maths at school and wasn’t really looking forward to it, but ended up really enjoying it and found myself doing extra work every day,’ he said.

These achievements reflect not only learners’ dedication and determination, but also the supportive learning environment that helps adults gain confidence, build skills and open new opportunities for the future.
