Overview

Would you like to enjoy the benefit of being connected to the online world but feel left out? Do you want to be able to use computers to keep in touch with friends but don’t know how to begin? Would you like to be able to search the internet, but do not feel safe? Maybe you’d like to access services that are moving online, but you lack confidence to try? If you’re a beginner or just bewildered by the internet, this course will give you the confidence and skills to join the digital world.

You will learn how to access the internet and to stay safe online; how to find and store useful or interesting websites so you can easily retrieve them; how to set up and use emails; use WhatsApp to make video calls. You will also learn how to access goods and services like online shopping, banking, your doctors and the NHS, and travel information.

The course will be face to face with an experienced tutor and will include classroom-based activities in small groups. The course will be taught at the Library in Bideford.

All you need for this course is enthusiasm to learn.

Assessment criteria

You will receive feedback from your tutor in the sessions to let you know how you are progressing. An Individual Learning Plan will help you identify what you need to do next. 

What do I need?

Everything you need for this course will be provided by Learn Devon, but if you have your own phone or tablet you can bring these along for a more individual experience.

You may like to make your own notes so a pen/pencil and notebook may be useful.
