Ever wondered what it actually takes to work in theatre, or how to turn your creative passion into a real job?
Landmark Launchpad: Creative Pathways is an immersive, hands-on training programme delivered right here at The Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe in partnership with Learn Devon. Built specifically for 16–25 year olds, this course bridges the gap between creativity and real-world employment.
No exams. No boring lectures. Just practical experience alongside industry professionals.
What you’ll do and learn
Over the course, you’ll dive into two sides of the industry: Theatre craft and real-world employability.
- Hands-on Theatre Experience: Get technical on the lighting and sound rigs with technicians, using active communications, write script ideas and learn how big shows are produced.
- Confidence & Public Speaking: Master breathing and voice techniques used by professional actors to conquer pre-show nerves, handle anxiety and stand tall.
- The Business Side: Meet working local freelancers, explore self-employment basics, test real-life complaint handling and design show posters.
- Modern Career Tools: Learn how to use AI as a career assistant to write your CV, master the STAR technique for interviews and build personal financial budgeting skills.
Who is it for?
Whether you’re looking for your first job, considering self-employment, or just want to build your confidence in a safe, supportive space, this is for you. No previous theatre or industry experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new.

- Dates: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 14th October – 10th December 2026 (Two days per week)
- Time: 10:30am – 3pm
- Venue: The Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe
- Cost: Free to attend (delivered by Learn Devon in partnership with The Landmark Theatre)
How to join
To give you the best experience backstage, we keep group sizes small. We use a simple selection process to build this course’s team.
Every applicant will be invited to a brief chat. We’ll ask everyone a standard set of questions to get to know you, understand what you hope to gain, and answer any questions you have for us.
