Learning for work in hospitality - virtual college - online guided learning

Overview

This course is ideal if you already work in hospitality and would like to build your skills and confidence, or if you are new to the industry and want recognised qualifications to support your job search. It is suitable for beginners or those refreshing their knowledge, and is delivered in a supportive and friendly online environment.

You will complete a set of hospitality‑focused courses designed to support safe, professional and customer‑focused working. These include Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene, Customer Service in Hospitality, Giving Customers a Positive Impression, Barista Training and Food Allergy Awareness. Each course helps you gain practical knowledge valued by employers.

You will learn online with a tutor through guided sessions, held at set times. The course runs over three weekly sessions, each lasting two hours. Your tutor will explain the learning, support you during sessions, and guide you with any tasks to complete between sessions.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You will need an interest in hospitality, a willingness to take part in online learning, and the time to complete some short activities between sessions. Our experienced tutors are friendly, patient and there to support you throughout the course.

Assessment criteria

Each course includes a short online assessment to check your understanding. Once you successfully complete an assessment, you can download your recognised qualification certificate straight away, ready to add to your CV or show to employers.

What do I need?

You will need a laptop or PC with speakers and a microphone or a headset with earphones and microphone. You will need a good broadband internet connection to access the online sessions.

This course is delivered online through Google classroom, so you can join from home. You will receive clear instructions before the course starts, and your tutor will be available to help you access the sessions and learning materials.
