Overview

This course is designed for adult learners who want to develop a deeper knowledge of mental health, wellbeing, and the factors that influence mental health across different life stages. It is suitable for those working, or aspiring to work, in health and social care, mental health services, support work, education, youth work, or community settings. Learners must be aged 19+ to undertake the qualification.

Learners will develop in‑depth knowledge of mental health, including legislation, services, attitudes, mental health problems, consequences, and treatment options. The qualification covers: The context of mental health and wellbeing Promotion of mental health and wellbeing Mental health problems and their associated issues Understanding mental ill health Working in mental health settings

Learning takes place online with guided activities, independent research, reflective practice, and tutor support. Delivery includes using an online learning platform and classroom with discussions, and workbook activities aligned to Level 3 study.

Entry requirements

There are no qualifications needed. However, it may be helpful if learners have previously completed a Level 2 qualification in mental health, health, or social care. Learners must be motivated and have adequate literacy skills to meet Level 3 study requirements. You will be asked to complete a short skills check. You must be eligible to study in the UK, you will need a valid I.D. You may be asked to show proof of earnings/employment status for funding purposes.

Assessment criteria

You will work to create a portfolio of evidence. Your tutor will support you to meet all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit. Evidence may include written work, case studies, professional discussion, reflective accounts, and other forms of assessed coursework

What do I need?

You will need a laptop or tablet with a reliable internet connection, a smartphone will not be suitable.

You will need digital skills to access an online classroom.

Successful learners may progress into: Level 3 or Level 4 qualifications in health or social care Specialist mental health qualifications (e.g., Mental Capacity Act courses) Employment or voluntary roles in support work, health and social care, or community services Further professional development within mental health services
