Time to Talk Day, 1 Feb – free craft and chat sessions

Posted on: 26 January 2018

Thursday 1 February is Time to Talk Day – a day when everyone is encouraged to have a conversation about mental health. At Learn Devon, we know that it benefits all of us to talk about mental health.

Time to Talk Day is run by Time to Change, England’s biggest programme to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination and is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness. The aim of the day is to help spread the word that anywhere can be the right place to talk about mental health -at work, in class or over a coffee.

To support this campaign, we will be running two workshops in North Devon:

Stained glass: craft and chat. 10 – 1pm Arts Centre, Bideford
This craft and chat workshop is for learners who would like to learn the basic principles and techniques required to work with stained glass.

Ceramics: craft and chat. 6 – 9pm Arts Centre, Bideford
All learners are welcome, complete beginners and learners with some experience. You will be trying out different techniques using clay.

During both workshops, the tutor will lead conversations encouraging people to talk about their experiences of mental health issues. The sessions are free and all resources provided. There will also be complimentary refreshments available.
