September evening and weekend courses

We have some fabulous evening and weekend courses in arts and crafts and GCSE English starting this month – perfect if you work 9 to 5 or have other commitments during the day. Check out what’s on when in the list below.
If you see something you’d like to do, but it’s not on in your area or the times or dates don’t suit you, find more courses using our online search or contact your local centre – if there’s enough interest in your area, they may be able to put on your course.
Evening courses
Pottery: have a go and a throw
The Mansion, Totnes. Mondays 10 September 7 – 9pm
Come and learn in a fully equipped workshop you will be able to make items you can take home and use. Find out more.
Drawing skills
Ockment Centre, Okehampton. Tuesdays 11 September 6:30 – 8:30pm
This is a general course in basic drawing skills, suitable for both beginners and those with experience. Find out more
GCSE English
Passmore Edwards Centre, Newton Abbot. Tuesdays 18 September 6:30 – 9pm
This course is for adults who have not already achieved a GCSE in English A*-C grade. It can help to enhance career prospects, access to higher or further education, support family with their learning or improve your skills for your own personal reasons. Find out more
Introduction to printmaking
Arts Centre, Bideford. Wednesdays 19 September 6 – 9pm
You will learn some basic printing techniques including how to design and cut a simple lino block then print it onto various papers using different colours. Find out more
Introduction to paperclay
Arts Centre, Bideford. Tuesdays 25 September 6 – 9pm
Paperclay is clay mixed with paper which allows you to make delicate pieces that would usually be difficult in other clays and on this course, you will learn how to make a decorative mobile. Find out more
Weekend Courses
Introduction to reverse applique
Arts Centre, Bideford. Saturday 22 September 10am – 1pm
Learn the basic techniques for reverse applique – sewing a simple shape through layers of fabric. Find out more.
Introduction to felt making – wet felt
Arts Centre, Bideford. Saturday 29 September 10am – 1pm
This is a fun workshop where you can have a try at the wet felt method, using merino wool fibres to turn the wool into felt objects. Find out more
