October evening and weekend leisure courses

We’ve got a great selection of weekend and evening leisure courses coming up this October! Great for those who have work and childcare commitments during the day, you’re sure to find a course that takes your fancy.

If you see something you’d like to do but it’s not on in your area or the times or dates don’t suit you, find more courses using our online search or contact your local centre – if there’s enough interest in your area, they may be able to put on your course.

Simple sewing: make a skirt

Arts Centre, Bideford, Saturdays 7 to 14 October, 10am-1pm

This course is for beginners. You will work from a pattern and create a simple skirt on an electric sewing machine. Taught in a fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere with other students new to sewing. Find out more about Simple sewing: make a skirt.

German: Beginners

Passmore Edwards Centre, Newton Abbot, Thursdays 5 October to 21 December, 7-9pm

This course is suitable for those that have done a term of German, or for those who have some basic knowledge of German and who wish to practise and consolidate their language learning and build their confidence. If you don’t continue to use it, you will lose it! Learn simple grammar and add to your vocabulary. Find out more about German: Beginners.

Life drawing

The Kennaway Centre, Exmouth, Saturday 7 October 10am-3pm

Referring to an unclothed model you will be starting with gestural drawings in ink and charcoal. Both expressive and traditional approaches will be used to describe the human form. The basic elements of drawing: line, tone, form, space and proportion will be covered. Find out more about Life drawing.

Italian: Beginners

The Mansion, Totnes, Thursdays 12 October to 7 December 7-9pm

Have you always wanted to learn Italian? Do you want to be able to communicate at a basic level when you visit an Italian speaking country? This course is for anyone who has attended a short Introduction to Italian. It is also suitable for anyone who has a little basic knowledge and vocabulary and who wants to consolidate at a beginner’s pace. Learn more about Italian: Beginners.
