November evening and weekend courses

We have some fabulous evening and weekend courses in arts and crafts, photography and study skills starting this month – perfect if you work 9 to 5 or have other commitments during the day. Check out what’s on when in the list below.
If you see something you’d like to do, but it’s not on in your area or the times or dates don’t suit you, find more courses using our online search or contact your local centre – if there’s enough interest in your area, they may be able to put on your course.
Ockment Centre, Okehampton. Tuesday 6 November. 6:30 – 8:30pm
This course is for beginners. Come along, make some unique objects and learn some new skills such as slab building, coiling, casting, throwing techniques and applying glazes and slips. Find out more
Print making and book binding: for all
The Mansion, Totnes. Wednesday 14 November 7 – 9pm
Develop a range of printmaking and bookbinding skills, and by the end of course you will have produced a hand bound book and a number of prints using a single or combination of techniques. Find out more
Digital Photography – explore your locality
Arts Centre, Bideford. Thursday 15 November 6:30 – 8:30pm
This course takes in the local outdoor surroundings during guided photoshoots to learn about composition and exposure. Find out more.
Study skills: how to develop techniques for success in learning
Holsworthy Skills Centre, Holsworthy. Wednesday 28 November 5 -7pm
Learn a variety of methods to effectively enhance your studying and revising skills as well as discover ways to reduce exam anxiety. Find out more
The Flavel Centre, Dartmouth. Saturday 10 November 10am -3:30pm
Ideal for beginners or those with a bit of experience – time will be spent doing a mixture of theory in the classroom and outdoor photography practice. You will learn to ‘see’ rather than just ‘look’, how to control aperture and exposure and more! Find out more
Sculpture – found objects – for beginners
Arts Centre, Bideford. Saturday 10 November 10am – 3:30pm
Come along and learn different methods for joining, gluing and jointing to make quirky and fun small-scale sculptures for your house or garden or to give as a gift. Find out more
Make a skirt or bag inserting a zip
Arts Centre, Bideford. Saturday 24 November 10am – 3:30pm
Learn how to follow a simple pattern, sew using a sewing machine, and how to insert a zip as a fastening. Find out more
