Featured Five: courses not to miss in January

It’s a new year, so why not have a go at trying your hand at something new. Here’s our latest pick of courses starting soon across Devon. These include some great craft, language and creative writing workshops.

If you see something you’d like to do but it’s not on in your area or the times or dates don’t suit you, find more courses using our online search or contact your local centre – if there’s enough interest in your area, they may be able to put on your course.

Arts Centre, Bideford. Tuesday 8 January 1 – 3:30pm

If you want to learn how to use very basic British Sign Language, then this course is a great starting point. Find out more.

Art Matters – Signs of Spring

Kennaway Centre, Exmouth. Tuesday 15 January 10am – 1pm

This course is suitable for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities or those being supported on a day-to-day basis. You will produce various works of art, based on a Spring theme.  Find out more

Layer and fuse: upcycle plastic bags

Passmore Edwards Centre, Newton Abbot. Wednesday 26 January 10am – 12:30pm

Starting with a collage, you will create your own interesting and tactile purses, bags and decorative items by fusing colourful upcycled plastic bags. Find out more

Creative solutions to stress and anxiety relief

Lantern Centre, Ilfracombe. Tuesday 29 January 10am – 12noon

This course aims to help individuals gain a greater sense of wellbeing through participation in a variety of art activities delivered in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Find out more
