Featured five: upcoming courses not to miss

Here’s our latest pick of courses starting soon across Devon. They include family learning, Spanish, mixed media painting, drawing and British Sign Language (BSL).
If you see something you’d like to do but it’s not on in your area or the times or dates don’t suit you, find more courses using our online search or contact your local centre – if there’s enough interest in your area, they may be able to put on your course.
Family learning workshops

It’s the national Family Learning Festival from 14 to 29 October and to celebrate we are putting on a variety of fun workshops, like mosaic making, you can enjoy with your children. To find workshops in your area, search ‘Family learning’ in our online course search.
Spanish for beginners part two
The Library, Ilfracombe, Mondays 30 October to 20 November, 6.30-8.30pm
Hola! If you would like to learn Spanish and have little or no experience so far, join this course in Ilfracombe where you will learn to greet people, order food, read signs and more. Painting: mixed media
The Mansion, Totnes, Mondays 30 October to 27 November, 10am-12noon
Learn to use collage, ink and wash, paint, chalk and pastel and create your own work of art on this creative course led by tutor and artist Suzy Fasht. Find out more about Painting: mixed media.
The Kennaway Centre, Exmouth, Tuesdays 31 October to 28 November, 1.30-3.30pm
Learn the basics of drawing – line, tone, space, perspective and proportion – and enjoy a drawing trip to the RAMM museum in Exeter. This course is led by tutor and artist Louise Banks. Find out more about Drawing skills.
Introduction to BSL part one
Arts Centre, Bideford, Tuesdays 31 October to 21 November, 2-4pm
On this non-qualification course you will get started on the basics of British Sign Language, for example learning to use and understand simple words and sentences, and take part in conversations. Find out more about Introduction to BSL part one.
