Get ready for GCSE English Fast track

Overview

This course is designed for anyone who wants to get a head start with the Pearsons GCSE English syllabus before joining a Fast track GCSE class in January. 

Your tutor will give you an overview of the English GCSE course, so you are familiar with the course by the time you start your GCSE in September. You will start to learn some of the skills you will require for successful GCSE study, as your tutor introduces you to the syllabus, as well as useful study skills and tips. This course is an opportunity for you to ask the tutor any questions or discuss any concerns you may have before the GCSE course starts in September.

In the sessions, you will work with a group and on your own. The tutor will use lots of different learning resources in your class to assist you with your learning. You will be taught by a supportive and friendly English tutor who will provide lots of practical help, guidance and support. Your tutor will also suggest activities you can do outside of the class to help you with your GCSE studies.

Entry requirements

This course is free. To enrol on this course, you will first need to talk to one of our friendly Learning Advisers. They will arrange a meeting and give you some simple tasks to carry out to make sure that this is the right course for you and that this is the correct class for your skill level. Assessment criteria

Your tutor will give you spoken and written feedback to help you make progress by completing your ILP (Individual Learning Plan) and by discussion with you in your classes.

What do I need?

This course is free and has no special requirements.

It would be helpful to have access to the internet and a device such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop to access further learning resources online. If this course is online, you will need a laptop or tablet to access it.

You will need a pen, pencil, eraser, a notebook and/or A4 folder. Access to a paper English dictionary would also be useful.
