Level 1 Award in mental health and wellbeing

Overview

This course is for individuals 19+ who are considering a career in health and care or who are interested in working or volunteering in the local community with people who may experience issues with their mental health and wellbeing. It is to gain a qualification - Level 1 Award in Mental Health and Wellbeing.

This course will help you: To understand what we mean by mental health and wellbeing To understand different mental health conditions and treatment To know how to find support for mental health conditions To know how to look after your own mental health and wellbeing

This course will take place in person in a classroom or hired space. You will take part in discussions as well as working on your own and in a group. There will be an assignment each week (quizzes, finding things out, etc.) which you must complete in your own before the next session.

Entry requirements

As this course leads to a Level 1 qualification you will be asked to complete a short initial skills check (in person or via Teams/Zoom) before enrolling on the course to make sure this course is right for you.

Assessment criteria

There will be a simple ILP (Individual Learning Plan) which the tutor will discuss with you individually, to make sure the class is meeting your needs. You will also take part in discussions in the group about the session’s activities. Throughout the course you will complete a portfolio which will be submitted to the awarding body. Your tutor will support you in making sure everything you need is included in the portfolio.
