Introduction to functional skills maths

Overview

This course is for anyone who wants to know more about what functional skills in maths involves.

The different levels of maths you can study The equipment required and sources of support The topics that will be covered on the course and the types of questions you will be asked.

Our classes are small and welcoming and will take place for one 2 ½ hour session. You will work with others and on your own through a combination of whole class teaching and individual work in google classroom.  You will be taught by supportive and friendly tutors who provide lots of practical help and guidance.

Entry requirements

This course is free if you do not have a GCSE maths qualification or have a GCSE D grade (grade 3 under the new grading system) equivalent or below. 

Assessment criteria

There will be a simple ILP (Individual Learning Plan) which the tutor will discuss with you individually, to make sure the class is meeting your needs. You will also take part in discussions in the group about the session’s activities.
