Introduction to Functional skills - Multiply

Overview

Anybody who would like some additional support or guidance with improving their Maths skills.

This course will support you to improve your Maths and enable you to gain greater knowledge and understanding of this topic.You will learn about the specific structure and requirements of the Functional Skills Maths qualifications.

There will be 2 sessions with each session about 2 hours long. You will be taught by a supportive and friendly Maths tutor who will provide lots of practical help and guidance. Our classes are small and welcoming, you will work with others and on your own, using a variety of resources provided by the tutor. This course is free and available online and in our centres.

Entry requirements

This course is free for anyone who is 19 and over, doesn’t have a level 2 in maths, or higher (GCSE Grade 4/C) and is a resident in Devon, please contact your local Learn Devon Centre who can give you further information and advice.

Assessment criteria

There will be a simple ILP (Individual Learning Plan) which the tutor will discuss with you individually, to make sure the class is meeting your needs. You will also take part in discussions in the group about the session’s activities.

What do I need?

A pen and notebook would be useful to make notes. All other resources will be supplied.

What can I do next?

The aim of the course is to prepare you for enrolment on one of our Functional Skills Maths courses – either online or face-to-face.You can enrol on another Maths Multiply course, which can be discussed with your tutor. Examples of some of our other workshops are: Number; Calculation; Fractions; Decimals; Percentages; Using a Protractor and Scale Drawings.You could also enrol on other Learn Devon courses such as Improve your English, Essential Digital Skills, Learning for Work.
