Get confident using the internet

Overview

Have you never used a computer before? Is the internet a mystery to you? This short course will get you started on your journey to using computers and using the internet. It will provide your first steps to getting online.

You will learn how to turn on a computer and use controls such as a ‘mouse’ and a keyboard.  You will learn how to ‘log in’ and connect to the internet safely and how to search the internet. You will have the opportunity to explore websites of interest including how to access some public services. You will learn how to shut down the computer safely.

You will learn with your tutor, in a small group. The course will include practical tasks to learn skills that you can use online and at home. Your tutor can tailor some of the course to your own interests and hobbies. Your tutor will support you throughout the course and will give you feedback.

Entry requirements

All you need for this course is enthusiasm to learn and be willing to ‘have a go.

Assessment criteria

You will get feedback from your tutor in the session to let you know how you are doing. There will be a short learning plan to fill in with your tutor. This will help you decide what to do next.

What do I need?

Everything you need for this course will be provided by Learn Devon.
