Entertainment on your mobile device

Overview

This short two-hour workshop is for those who would like to use their mobile device to watch TV programs, films and documentaries and listen to the radio and podcasts. As well as watching what is on now you will also learn how to access the enormous amount of programs and podcasts available to stream to your device. Turn your smartphone into a mobile movie theatre!

The workshop will explain how media, such as TV programs, is “streamed” over the internet to mobile devices so that you can watch and listen wherever you are. You will learn about the different apps you can use and what a podcast is. Finally you will install iPlayer and BBC Sounds and set up a profile so you can start streaming your favourite programs.

This is an informal classroom based session with one of our experienced tutors. You will learn in a small group with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practice on your device.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You will need to bring your smartphone or tablet with you to use during the session. 

Assessment criteria

There is no assessment, your progress during the session will be monitored by your tutor.

What do I need?

You will need a working smartphone, tablet or other similar mobile device capable of accessing the Internet.
