Beach huts workshop

Who is this course for?

If you are looking for something fun, interesting and a little bit different to do with your children, then this workshop is perfect for you.

Using a selection resources, you and your child/ren will create your very own beach hut decoration.

Our beach huts are made using recycled and reclaimed materials so are an environmentally friendly decoration.

We cannot accommodate more than 3 children per adult and all children should be aged 3 and above, maximum age 11 years.

Course content

You will be guided, by our parent tutor, through the processes needed to make your uniquely designed beach hut.

The session is designed to promote working with your child/ren in a supportive setting where your creativity will unfold and you will be proud of your achievements together.

Make special memories and create something beautiful.

Support and feedback

You will get continual support and feedback from your tutor throughout the session and have opportunities to discuss and review your progress.

Additional costs and requirements

All resources will be provided.

Please bring a bag to take your beach hut decoration home in.

The session is most suitable for families with children aged over 4 years.

Please contact your local centre to provide details of your accompanying child/ren.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

You will not need to do anything in your own time.

About the tutor

Your tutor will be Amanda Barrud. Amanda has been working for Learn Devon since 2002 and teaches a variety of arts and crafts courses as well as family learning courses and courses for adults with learning disabilities and difficulties. Amanda also works for Mencap, coordinating events and activities for adults with learning disabilities in North Devon. She graduated from the University of Kent and worked for the Kent Institute of Art and Design before taking up employment with Learn Devon. Amanda has four children and one grandchild and has valuable real-life experiences of raising a family through challenging times. Amanda is passionate about crafting and spends most of her spare time crafting or learning new craft techniques. She is a patient tutor who is well known for facilitating learners to have a go at new challenges. Amanda provides a supportive environment for leaners to experiment and try new ideas, as she recognises the potential in others and spurs them on to achieve their ambitions.
