Mindfulness for pain management
Who is this course for?
This course may suit you if you have an interest in learning how to manage pain through Mindfulness and would like to establish a Mindfulness and Meditation practice
You will learn about:
Mastering your mind: Relieving your mental suffering in relation to pain
Developing focus and concentration through Mindfulness Meditation – so that pain doesn’t dominate and distract so much
The Mindfulness-Pain Paradox: How opening to, accepting and allowing pain makes it easier to live with
Listening to the voice in your head
Using the Breath to manage pain
‘Surrender to Gravity’ – noticing when we ‘pull away’ from pain and hold tension
Support and feedback
Your tutor will support you throughout the course via the online sessions. You will work with your tutor on your personal goals within the structure of the course. You will receive feedback on your progress and suggestions as to how to improve.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
You will need a laptop / PC / phone / tablet with a camera and microphone/headphones and a good internet connection.

“How will I learn?
You will be working with your tutor and other learners using an online video platform called Zoom. Your course will include practical tasks and discussions and your tutor will support you throughout. Your tutor will suggest ideas on what to practice in your own time.
What can I do next?
Continuing with Mindfulness practice supports emotional resilience and overall wellbeing. After this course you may like to enrol on more of Learn Devon’s Mindfulness courses, such as Mindfulness for Life’s Challenges, or Relaxation Skills (both starting 4th November), or another wellbeing- related course. You can also practice and build on what you have learnt using Mindfulness Apps such as Headspace or Calm. ”
