Stretch and soothe - FREE session
Who is this course for?
This is a beginner’s course which is suitable for all.
You will learn how stretching can be used to relieve stress, increase flexibility and improve posture. One of the main components of stretching is breathing.
You will learn to focus on your breath and discover how this can relieve your mind of thoughts which can cause anxiety, helping you to feel calm and relaxed.
You will be taught in a small, friendly and supportive group where you will have the opportunity to gain confidence and make new friends.
Support and feedback
You will get continual support and feedback from your tutor throughout the course and have opportunities to discuss and review your progress.
You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged 19 or over on 31st August 2019 and your household income below £16.009.50 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details
Additional costs and requirements
Please wear loose, comfortable clothes suitable for movement that will preserve your modesty. It would be useful and hygienic to have your own exercise mat and bring water for hydration.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
You are not expected to do anything outside of the sessions, but Carla would encourage you to practice what you learn – you may well find that your wellbeing improves as a result!
About the tutor
Carla Jenkins has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, a degree in English Language and Literature, is CELTA qualified and has been teaching English in one way or another since 2005. She is also a member of The British Wheel of Yoga.
Since 2010, Carla has been passionate about how yoga and mindfulness can be used to improve one’s wellbeing. She loves sharing these skills with others.
