Wellbeing for Carers (mind and body)

Who is this course for?

Beginners

This course is for anyone who is a carer full or part-time. Also, anyone who may be considering care work or support work in the community

This course may also be suitable for anyone working in care or support work in residential settings to support family members.

Course content

• The course content will include nine steps to taking care of the carer.
• This will include examples of materials and information available to support the carer.
• There will be group discussion and tutor demonstrations on relaxation techniques including using mindfulness.
• Creative tools such as journals and art
Fun activities and sharing of experiences

You will be taught in a small, friendly and supportive group where you will have the opportunity to gain confidence and make new friends.

Support and feedback

Information on support groups and carer support available.

You will get continual support and feedback from your tutor throughout the course and have opportunities to discuss and review your progress.

You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged 19 or over on 31st August 2019 and your household income below £16.009.50 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

About the tutor

Teresa Willey is qualified in health and social care Counselling and Psychotherapy. The tutor has also worked within residential settings and with individual care workers teaching wellbeing and mindfulness .
