Mindfulness for the brain
Who is this course for?
Are you worried about cognitive decline?
Did you know that a regular practice of Mindfulness can help retain and even improve cognitive skills and overall mental agility?
In this course, you will learn Mindfulness as a form of secular mental training that can help you:
• Retain/improve memory, reaction times and mental and physical stamina
• Reduce mind-wandering and retain/improve focus, concentration and attention
• Retain/improve your ability to manage emotions
• Establish a regular Mindfulness practice in your daily life
Scientific evidence proving these benefits will be available.
The tutor (Paul Beard) takes a person-centred approach and will assess student’s needs and abilities from the outset and tailor the course content accordingly. Therefore, you may for example learn Mindfulness in relation to your senses, body, breath and movement – focusing on some areas more than others, depending on students’ needs.
Support and feedback
Through your practice of the Mindfulness exercises taught and the impact on your daily life during the course.
Paul will give each learner feedback within the sessions or outside of the sessions (as appropriate).
Additional costs and requirements
You will need to wear loose clothing, or at least clothing that is not too restrictive.
Please bring a notebook and pen.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
Paul will encourage you to practice what you learn outside of the sessions as this will help to consolidate your learning and notice the effect on your daily life of practicing Mindfulness. However, this is a recommendation rather than a requirement and how much/little you do is entirely your choice.
