Yoga for Beginners

Who is this course for?

This course will introduce you to simple yoga postures to help strengthen your body at the same time increasing your flexibility. The postures will suit all ages and abilities.

Postures will be modified to suit your individual needs. You can use a chair or the wall to help you.

The course will include breathing and concentration techniques to help with your general well- being and relaxation

Course content

You will observe the demonstration of yoga postures from your tutor and copy them if you can. This will involve bending, stretching, standing and lying on the floor

You will do some work on balance and strength of your body. The class will include breathing techniques to help with relaxation.

Support and feedback

I will give you individual feedback during every session.

Additional costs and requirements

You will need a non- slip mat, warm clothes and a blanket for the relaxation.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

You will be encouraged to practice at home.

About the tutor

I am a British Wheel of Yoga qualified teacher with seven years teaching experience. I have also studied Buddhist Meditation for 1 year.

I started practicing yoga during and after pregnancy as a form of relaxation. I later decided to study and train as a Yoga teacher, wanting to share the benefits with others. The British Wheel of yoga teachers Qualification is extremely thorough, teaching you how to plan and teach lessons to suits your student’s needs, together with modifying postures. The qualification places emphasis on the anatomy & physiology of the postures together with the traditional mental and spiritual philosophy of this ancient practice.

My practice and teaching of yoga keeps it as a non-competitive individual experience where breathing and mediation is very much part of the yoga class.

Since completing my teacher training I continue to learn and practice through attending workshops and in service training with a variety of teachers. I have recently completed the British Wheel of Yoga Philosophy Module.
