Who is this course for?

This Workshop is anyone interested in railways and writing. Those who work on trains, travel by rail, visiting heritage sites and those who enjoy observing the natural world through a carriage window

Course content

You will learn how to express your observations in writing poems and short pieces. You will learn how to listen to the landscape and fill your page with imagery and emotion which travelling by train gives us, as we travel from a moorland town into the city of Exeter.

You will discover the delight of onomatopoeias!

And how to use alliteration……to bring your words alive and so make travelling by rail a poetic journey as much as a physical journey!

Support and feedback

Your tutor will support you throughout the course via the online sessions. You will work with your tutor on your personal goals within the structure of the course. You will receive feedback on your progress and suggestions as to how to improve.

Additional costs and requirements

Ability to communicate in English, both written & spoken word.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

You will need a laptop / PC / phone / tablet with a camera and microphone / headphones and a good internet connection, paper, pen, notebook, etc.

How will I learn?

You will be working with your tutor and other learners using an online video platform called Zoom.

During the sessions there will be set tasks and discussions with your tutor and other learners. You will work on developing your ideas around set themes. Your tutor will give feedback and will support you throughout the course.
