Creative writing: How to write a poem: FULL
Who is this course for?
Anyone of any age or writing ability. Anyone who would like to write their own poetry.
Creative writing can also help with your wellbeing too – it’s been proven to be hugely beneficial to help with stress, clarify thoughts and feelings and even improve personal mood and increase positivity. So, why not give it a go!
You will be working with your tutor in a virtual learning environment using an online platform called zoom. You will be accompanied in your virtual class, with other budding writers.
Each week you will explore shape poems, limericks, acrostic poems, non-rhyming, and rhyming poems. Fun, simple activities to promote poetry writing.
Support and feedback
Your tutor will support you throughout the course through online face to face discussions and written feedback on your progress. You will work with your tutor on your personal goals within the structure of the course.
Additional costs and requirements
You will need a lap-top/personal computer/phone/tablet with a camera and microphone and good internet connection.
You will need a pen or pencil to write with. Something to colour with and some paper (plain and lined if possible)
There are no entry requirements, just an open mind!
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
Your tutor will suggest ideas on what to practice in your own time and will signpost you to other opportunities to support your learning.
About the tutor
My name is Cindy Squire and I have been a tutor with Learn Devon for about 15 years. I love the poetry and creative writing sessions as I’m always amazed with the fascinating topics each person writes about, and it’s a real joy to share the end results!
