Poetry workshop: putting thoughts into words

Who is this course for?

Have fun working with a group & an experienced tutor, looking at how to make poetry from nature. You will focus on how to make each word count in terms of its sense, rhythm and rhyme. You will produce 3 or 4 different types of poem; bringing nature inside!

Course content

You will be working, in pairs & individually, to create pieces which will reflect nature. Through discussion, development of ideas, editing and refining, poems will be conceived and written. Also, using visual images and handouts you’ll be encouraged to write with the tutor’s help and expertise..

You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged over 19 on 31st August 2018 and your household income below £15,276 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details. 

About the tutor

Jill teaches Creative Writing for Learn Devon, including fiction, autobiographical & biographical pieces and poetry. Jill has taught in a number of different settings: ranging from schools to adult and community learning centres.

She has a Masters in Education, specialising in inclusion and dyslexia, and is always looking for different ways for people to access their creativity and be innovative.
