Starting your book

Okehampton Library, Okehampton

Who is this course for?

Ideal for writers who want to write longer pieces which form the chapters of a book. Look at a variety of ways to dream up your main character; come up with great ideas for a storyline and then piece by piece, fill in the jigsaw that makes up a person’s story, fitting it into an intriguing plot.

Course content

You will work individually & with partners, discussing various scenarios which incorporate everyday characters in unusual situations. Develop your characters by introducing twists and turns to show how your character learns (or not!) from mistakes and misfortune; ever deepening the plot!

Support and feedback

You will receive weekly online tutor feedback & during the session. Plus initial & end of course assessment, too.

Additional costs and requirements

Pen and paper or laptop.

No extra costs.

You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing.
