About the tutor
My name is Jill Hobbs and I have been teaching for Devon County for 25 yrs, twelve of which have been with Learn Devon tutoring adults Creative Writing. I have a passion for Creative Writing as I consider it hugely important that people learn how to express themselves using a variety of formats, from performance poetry to short stories, playscripts, flash fiction & memoires. With a Masters in Education, a Foundation in Art Therapy and a love of language, I love to engage with the world and the people around me through the medium of the written word. Through speech and the written word, we break through that isolation and join in with humanity, seeking to make ourselves heard in an increasingly complex world. Enthusing writing groups which use a group dynamic is something I try to promote wherever possible, and I consider that encouraging people to write and publish is a very worthwhile goal.
To balance having a sedentary occupation, my other passion is cycling! I really enjoy getting out and about on the bike, as Devon has such beautiful countryside and offers such good opportunities for sightseeing and visiting places.
