Creative writing workshop: forming characters

The Mansion, Totnes

Who is this course for?

A great opportunity to be part of a writers’ group, where you can build a backstory around your favourite character! You will look at producing 3 such characters for three different storylines. Have fun trying out ideas and discarding the stereotypes; coming up with the girl (or boy) next door dealing with unexpected and difficult circumstances.

Course content

You will work in groups/pairs to help develop and progress your ideas. Using planning devices to help structure your ideas to build different characters. Paying attention to detail, making your characters unique and authentic.

Support and feedback

You will receive weekly online tutor feedback & during the session. Plus initial & end of course assessment, too.

Additional costs and requirements

Pen and paper or laptop.

No extra costs.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

You will produce 4 pieces of work for the course.
