Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone who is a complete beginner to Spanish.

Course content

During this course you will learn how to understand, speak and write on familiar topic and situations. Topics will include:

Greetings, family and jobs

Order a drink and a snack in a café or restaurant

Finding directions

Transport, buying a ticket at the station

Hotel and accommodation

Shopping food, market and pharmacy

Each session will focus on a different topic and the course will build week on week. You will learn pronunciation, key sentences, vocabulary and so

Support and feedback

Your tutor will support you throughout the course via the online sessions. You will work with your tutor on your personal goals within the structure of the course. You will receive feedback on your progress and suggestions as to how to improve and help you to build up confidence in the language. A recap of the lesson will give you an opportunity to consolidate the previous lesson. Handouts of the lesson will be sent to you after each lesson.

Additional costs and requirements

This course is for anyone who wants to learn Spanish for a holiday, for a hobby or for those who would like to learn the language and understand the basic words and phrases and interact in a simple way in Spanish in everyday situations in the Spanish speaking country.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

You will need a laptop / PC / phone / tablet with a camera and microphone/headphones and a good internet connection. You will need to take notes, either using pen and paper or on laptop / PC / phone / tablet.

“How will I learn?

You will be working with your tutor and other learners using an online video platform called Zoom. The course is fun and varied. You will be taught individually, in pairs and in small groups. Your course will include a range of topics and learning methods such as role play, audio, video clips, games and quizzes.

There will be optional homework and it is useful to practice what you have learnt between sessions.

Resources and additional information

A Spanish dictionary is advisable; Collins or Oxford are good.
