Who is this course for?

This 8 week course follows on from our Italian Beginners course part 2 and is for anyone who has attended one or two of our Italian Beginners courses or has a basic knowledge of the language and is looking to improve their practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with day to day scenarios when travelling and socialising in an Italian.

Course content

You will learn how to:

*Understand and take part in short conversations when travelling

*Exchange information with others

*Shopping for food and clothes

*telling the time

*buying trains ticket

* Identify and request items in a variety of situations

You will also gain an insight into the culture where the language is spoken.

Support and feedback

Initial assessment will identify your skills level at the start of the course and there will be a variety of of activities to assess progress throughout the course. You’ll complete an individual learning plan (ILP) and there will be opportunities for you to discuss your progress and aims with your tutor.

Additional costs and requirements

This course is delivered online and provided free of charge. You will, however, need a computer or a tablet with a stable internet connection, as well as a built in or external microphone and camera to attend the course.

This course is for anyone who has attended on two of our Italian Beginners courses or has a basic knowledge of the language and is looking to improve their practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with day to day scenarios when travelling and socialising in an Italian.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

Yes. You will learn more effectively if you are able to practice and revise between the sessions. Your tutor will give you short homework tasks to help consolidate and extend the work done in the weekly session. You will also be encouraged to make use of other resources such as internet websites for self-study activities

About the tutor

Giusy was born and brought up in Genoa on the Italian Riviera and has been teaching Italian (from absolute beginners up to university level) for several years. She has helped learners and has run exams for many keen students up to GCSE level and encouraged a few learners to progress to university. She has also taught Italian to those wishing to move to Italy This course is offered online to support continued learning during restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Please note if/when restrictions are lifted this course may be redirected to face to face learning.

The time and day will remain the same, along with your tutor. The venue for face to face learning will be inTotnes
