Spanish for beginners : part 1: FULL
Who is this course for?
Learn the basics of the language. It can be daunting on your own and is much more fun with a supportive tutor and a group, where you can practice with each other and share the joys and frustrations. This is suitable for complete beginners and also for those with some very, very basic knowledge.
Course content
Learn and practise simple useful language from some of the following:
Greet people and introduce yourself and others
Order a drink or a snack
Shop and find your way around
Numbers, the alphabet, days of the week and dates
Read information such as simple signs, lists and menus.
Some culture of the country or countries concerned
…and take part in :
Work individually, in pairs and in small groups, as well as with the tutor and the whole class.
Take part in a wide range of activities; designed to help Understand and use the language effectively.
Use a range of interesting resources including video clips, listening material and the internet
Support and feedback
Your tutor will support you throughout the course through online face to face discussions and written feedback on your progress. You will work with your tutor on your personal goals within the structure of the course.
Additional costs and requirements
You will need a laptop / PC / phone / tablet with a camera and microphone/headphones and a good internet connection. There will be a book reading list included for you to continue your reading after the course.
This course is offered online to support continued learning during lockdown.
Please note if/when lockdown is lifted this course may be redirected to face to face learning.
The time and day will remain the same, along with your tutor. The venue for direct learning will be at the Kennaway Centre, Exmouth EX1 8DL
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
Yes, effective language learning requires regular practise and reinforcement. You’ll be provided with short homework tasks to help consolidate and extend the work done in the weekly session.
You will also be encouraged to make use of other resources such as internet websites for self-study activities.
About the tutor
Dr. Dilcia Pacheco – Tutor biography
Dilcia currently works as a Spanish and Italian Language Tutor for Learn Devon, Exeter College and private students.
Her country of origin is Venezuela where she completed a Law Degree at Venezuelan Central University. She came to Britain in the late 1970s to complete a Masters degree in Maritime Law at Glasgow University. She also completed a one year Diploma course in Development Administration and Planning, at Bristol University.
Having taught Spanish and Italian privately, since 1990, she decided to complete a British Teaching Adults qualification in 2000.
She is also is a British Red Cross Volunteer.
