Italy: explore traditions and dialects, food and drink

Who is this course for?

Have you ever wanted to dig deeper into the Food and Drink of Italy? Or know more about the dialects and traditions? Do you want to develop your knowledge of Italian by presenting, researching and discussing Italian cousine, traditions or dialects? By finding out more about food and traditions, and talking about it in English we will discover new words and insights into this vibrant part of Italy’s culture. An opportunity to widen your vocabulary and cultural knowledge.

Course content

This course will give an insight about Italy, its culture and traditions and cuisine. You will be working with your tutor in a virtual learning environment using an online video platform called Zoom. You will be accompanied in your virtual class, with other learners.

Support and feedback

Your tutor will give practical demonstrations, have discussions, set tasks, give feedback and will support you throughout the course. You will work with your tutor on your personal goals within the structure of the course.

Additional costs and requirements

This course is delivered online and provided free of charge. You will, however, need a computer or a tablet with a stable Internet connection, as well as a built in or external microphone and camera to attend the course.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

You don`t need to know anything when joining the course but you will need to do some research in between session to present and discuss together.

About the tutor

Your tutor is Guiseppina Smith.

Giusy was born and brought up in Genoa on the Italian Riviera and has been teaching Italian (from absolute beginners up to university level) for several years. She has helped learners and has run exams for many keen students up to GCSE level and encouraged a few learners to progress to university. She has also taught Italian to those wishing to move to Italy.

This course is offered online to support continued learning during restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Please note if/when restrictions are lifted this course may be redirected to face to face learning.

The time and day will remain the same, along with your tutor. The venue for face to face learning will be in Totnes.
