Spanish for holidays
Who is this course for?
Have you always wanted to learn Spanish, or are you going on holiday there soon? If so this is the perfect course to start you out on Spanish learning journey.
Learning a language can be daunting on your own. It’s much easier with a supportive tutor and a group, where you can practice with each other and share the joys and challenges of learning.
This course is for anyone who would like to try out Spanish for the first time before committing to a longer course, or for those looking to pick up some basic key words and phrases before you go on holiday.
The course will focus on introducing you to Spanish pronunciation and simple everyday phrases and expressions.
The course is based around the practical skills of Spanish language and so will focus on basic speaking, listening, reading. Which will all be done through a variety of practical activities and tasks aimed at developing your basic understanding of Spanish.
The types of activities and tasks that you will do in class will range from tutor-led demonstrations, learner-led activities, to group activities and role plays.
This short course will give you and your tutor time to find out how you learn best and what interests you about learning a new language.
Support and feedback
There will be a variety of activities to informally assess progress throughout the course. You’ll complete an individual learning plan (ILP) and there will be opportunities for you to discuss your aims and progress with your tutor. The tutor will also provide written feedback.
Additional costs and requirements
You’ll need a pen, paper and a cardboard wallet for storing notes, hand-outs and homework.
You may like to bring a drink or refreshments for during the class.
This course is for anyone who would like to try out Spanish for the first time.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
It is advised that you should do some activities outside the class to support you with retaining the learning that has happened in class. Your tutor will give you short homework tasks to help consolidate and extend the work done in the weekly session.
You will also be encouraged to make use of other resources such as internet websites for self-study activities.
About the tutor
Rosa is an experienced Spanish tutor. She has been teaching in Adult and Community Learning for more than twenty years. She is also Senior Practitioner and has taught Spanish in a variety of settings and to learners of all levels and experiences.
