Mastering your camera
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone seeking to improve their photography by understanding how to use a digital SLR or mirrorless camera.
You will learn how to understand the controls, functions, and settings on your camera, how to access them, what they do and how you can use them to improve your photography.
Support and feedback
Your tutor will assess your progress in terms of getting the best out of your camera by understanding its functions, how to access and set them and how to use them creatively. You will be assessed in the following areas:
Understanding how a digital camera works.
Understanding file formats and settings: RAW, .jpg.
Understanding and setting aperture – depth of field.
Creative uses of shutter speed
Using ISO (brightness levels)
Use of light
Successful completion of the above subjects will be assessed by your tutor via digital files of the work that you complete and submit
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
You will need a computer/laptop with camera, microphone and speakers and a broadband internet connection with Wi-Fi to access this course.

“How will I learn?
You will learn online from your home using Zoom – Your tutor will support you to achieve the learning objectives for this course.
Resources and additional information
You will need camera that allows you control over various functions. For example, a digital SLR, or digital mirrorless camera. Not suitable for “point and shoot” cameras or smartphone cameras. A film camera is fine, though the course will predominantly concentrate on digital devices.
