Who is this course for?

This course is part of a new set of nationally recognised digital skills qualifications with the aim of providing adults with the digital skills  for life, work and study.

Course content

This course builds on the 5 main areas of essential digital skills to support you to do tasks in each area :

Using devices and handling information 

Creating and editing 

Communicating 

Transacting (buying or exchanging information online) 

Being safe and responsible online 

Support and feedback

To finish your qualification, you will take a timed online assessment which you will need to complete successfully to gain your certificate for Essential Digital Skills

Additional costs and requirements

An initial skills check will be carried out before the course starts to make sure it is the right course for you to study at the right level for you.

Will I have to do anything outside of the session?

To attend the course, you will need a computer (PC or laptop) with a stable internet connection, as well as a built in or external microphone and camera. To be able to take part in online learning you will be sent a Zoom invitation with your access code. This code will be the same for every session.

The course is delivered online with live tutoring and is be provided free of charge if you don’t already have a digital skills qualification at this level. Your tutor will give you continuous support to achieve your learning goals and will also give you feedback on your achievement. 

What can I do next?

You can progress on to the Level 1 Essential Digital Skills Qualification, which is focused more on digital skills for work, with some digital skills for life content. ”
